I've decided to blog my DCP experience so that I can share it with my friends and family, and so that I can remember it for myself (even though I'm sure I'm never going to forget it...!)
That's me!
A little about me, first. I'm Cheryl. I'm 22, turning 23 in October (I feel so old...), and I'm from Long Island, New York. A tiny little town in eastern Suffolk County called Center Moriches. I live 5 minutes from the bay, and 15 from the ocean... so it shouldn't be a surprise that I love all things that include the beach! I kinda take after my dad with that one. I'm totally a summer girl.... I used to wear flip flops in the snow. That all changed when I moved to Oswego, NY for my freshman year of college, though! I attended SUNY Oswego for 3 years, and kinda bounced all over the place with my major. I entered as a biology major with the intent of doing pre-med... thennnnn I got a D+ in my freshman bio class because I was so enthralled in all things COLLEGE. So I got bummed out, thought I couldn't be a doctor, then changed my major 3 more times. Finally, I transferred out of there after my junior year (because I love to torture myself) to Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, and that's where I currently am!
I'm currently studying radiography here at Champlain. If you don't know what that is... basically, in 6 weeks, I'm (hopefully) going to pass my board exams to become a radiologic technologist... AKA I take x-rays! This has been THE hardest 2 years of my life, but I'm so incredibly grateful towards it because I finally realized that I really do want to do what I've been wanting to do my whole life and that is...
Be a doctor!
Yup. Sounds crazy. Especially for those who know me. There are definitely more days than not that I think I will never become one, but I'm keeping the dream alive. People might laugh when they hear it, but I don't really care. I'm gonna do it, even if I'm not one till I'm like 50 (I hope not... I'd like to be an attending by 32!
Graduation is a mere 6 weeks away, and I cannot wait to finally graduate with my first degree after 5 years in college. I plan to earn my second degree to get my prerequisites for medical school, and will hopefully be applying by 2016, woo! But there's a slight divergence in the path and that is...
DISNEY!
But more on that later.
So anyway. I have a pretty awesome family. I have super cool friends. I love where I live (some days). I have a pretty good life. No complaints here.
I'm not a picky person. I love a lot of things. I really love food. And beer. And wine. I LOVE sports. I'm that crazy girl yelling at the TV. I'm particularly crazy about football, and college basketball. I'm a Giants fan, and then also a Penn State fan, Oregon Ducks fan, and Georgia Bulldogs fan. I have shed tears over a football game before, I won't lie (Oregon </3). And nothing frustrates me more than Syracuse basketball. I also watch other stuff, and I love the Olympics. I like to shop (what girl doesn't?), and I can be pretty high maintenance at times to be honest. But I also love doing outdoorsy things, and being outside. I also love music... any kind. From country to dance to hip hop to classic metal.
Here's some more pictures of my life!
